HIT+RUN is excited to announce their first music release of 2012, the "CFO x H+R Mixtape" by CONTACT FIELD ORCHESTRA. CFO is a new project brought together by producer/composer Damon Aaron.
After finding a box of tapes of a 19th-century percussion "orchestra", he set about cleaning and compiling them into a form that could be released. Apparently somewhat destroyed, he also replayed and augmented the pieces as best he could:
"The result, I think, is an amazing collection of esoteric folk recordings, albeit somewhat altered. like something out of a Jim Jarmusch film, or an old Library of Congress recording... Hypnotizing and odd; meditative and jarring. "
This the first glimpse into CFO's arcane world of broken percussion, banjos, flutes and mbira's that make-up some of the sounds of this group of miners-turned-musicians. Presented here in classic mixtape form with lots of dub, sirens, and vocal samples, it's a nice introduction to the first full lenght album "Volume 1" due this Summer.
In celebration of this limited-edition chrome tape (only 250 made), there are three FREE live performances scheduled in Los Angeles, don't miss them!
